Preparation Advice

For best possible tan application the following is advised:

• On the day of spray tan, exfoliate the full body in shower or bath. (Do not use an oil based exfoliation product) with a exfoliating glove or face cloth. Concentrate on elbows, knees and ankles. Leave skin clean and dry with no soap residue.

• Exfoliate for 2-3 days consecutively prior to tan.

• Do not apply moisturiser, perfume, body sprays or deodorant on the day of tan.

• Ensure the body has not been waxed within 24hrs of the tan.

• Ensure body has not been shaved within 8hrs of tan.

• Wear old dark underwear to be sprayed in. (G-string gives a nice line) Underwear is not necessary if you are comfortable being naked … Excess tan residue can often attach to clothing, this will wash out.

• Always wear loose comfortable clothing and slip on shoes after tan. Socks, runners and boots are not recommended.

• All jewellery should be removed from the body to ensure an even application.

• Make-up should be removed.

Spray Tanning Aftercare

TANNING AFTERCARE ADVICE Today you had a spray tan which will continue to develop over the next 8-10 hours after the application. The tanned appearance of the skin will last between 5-7 days depending on the condition of the skin and the aftercare advice being adhered to and the natural exfoliation of the skin's surface Some tips to help it last longer:

Wear loose dark clothing and slip on shoes. Preferably do not apply a bra for at least 4 hours.
Do not rub or scratch your body as this can also remove the spray tan during developing process.
Avoid strenuous exercise or perspiration
Do not apply any creams or deodorants until after the first shower.
Avoid any water contact on the skin until after the first shower. Water contact stops tanning process immediately.
Wait at least 8-10 hours (the longer the better) before showering. An excess of tan residue will wash off during the first shower. This is normal
Avoid using moisturisers or products containing Alpha hydroxyl acids and sodium laureate sulphate as these ingredients promote exfoliation and will accelerate the fading process.
Avoid long showers/baths and rubbing the when drying your skin, pat it dry.
Avoid chlorinated pools, spas and excessive heat this will also accelerate the fading process.
Most important, apply moisturiser or body oil twice daily as this slows down the natural exfoliation process
Avoid shaving or waxing following the tan application
Remember to wear sunscreen, there is no SPF protection in spray tanning solutions.
After 5-6 days start to exfoliate by buffing the skin with a mitt to even out texture
